County Wedding Magazines
have arranged special promotions for all of our titles in over 550 Branches of Martin and McColl newsagents.

We're looking for Surrey newlyweds who have said 'I do' this year. Any couples can enter the competition: it doesn't matter whether the event was large or small; modest or spectacular. Just click on the heart to put your wedding forward. If you've been successful, we'll be in touch.

Here are our most recent shortlisted couples - vote for who you'd like to see go through to the final, which will be held in spring next year.

Voting for this round closes on 27 August 2010.

Congratulations to our winners!

Congratulations to Ananya and Rennie, who won our first round of the Wedding of the Year competition!

I want to enter

Meet the contenders

Maria Conte and Lino Genco married on 20th March, 2010, and held their reception at Denbies, Dorking. Their theme was vintage Italian garden.

Maria says: "Lino proposed to me on bended knee in a park in Chicago, while we were over there attending a friend's wedding. When I look back it always makes me laugh, because not only was he sweating with nerves, but he was sweating from running around trying to find a method of payment for the ring, as the stores in Chicago only took Amex! He wanted to propose while we were in Chicago, and it was our last day there.
"For both of us the best part of the day was seeing each other for the first time at the altar. After all the build-up, it was such a relief to hold each other's hand at the front of the altar.
"We included a couple of surprises on the day - the best was our surprise wedding singer, Luca. He posed as a waiter and after a few bum notes, he burst out a traditional Italian song, which had every single surprised guest clapping along! I can still recall everyone's faces - while Luca was singing badly everyone was looking at us and we acted as though we were very upset, but just at the point where Luca turned it around, we burst out laughing."

Lisa and Andrew Cox married on 28th June, 2010, and held their reception at The Chateau in Croydon. Their theme was Victorian lace with red and silver colours.

Lisa says: "We had recently been on holiday, so we agreed not to buy anniversary or Christmas presents for each other, but one day I got home from work and there was a big silver present under the tree. I told Andrew I wouldn't open it until Christmas Day, because I thought it was a coffee machine. He persuaded me to open it, and I found a saucepan inside. I couldn't believe he was so excited about a saucepan set! I then found another wrapped parcel and after a few more layers I realised the parcel contained something hard. Then, in my hands was a tiny jewellery box.
"I looked up and saw Andrew had been in front of me on one knee the whole time. He took my hand and asked me if I would marry him. Inside the box was the most perfect ring I had ever seen. Of course I said 'yes'!
"On the day itself, after the ceremony, we enjoyed a romantic horse and carriage ride through the leafy streets, complete with a glass of champagne. This gave us the chance to be alone and take in the day together, in the midst of all the excitement.
"As a surprise we organised a dance lesson for all of our guests. After our first dance we called everyone onto the dancefloor and the lesson began. It was great way of getting everyone mingling."

Gemma Summerscales and Darren Heard married on 30th May, 2010, and held their reception at Easthampstead Park, Wokingham. Their theme was theatrical silk bows and lavender and dusky pink colours.

Gemma says: "I once dreamed of being proposed to at the top of the Eiffel Tower, or even in a romantic restaurant, looking all glitzy and glamorous. But Darren proposed while I was sat on the sofa in a dressing gown, having just dyed my roots with a home kit. I had a towel wrapped around my head, and while Road Wars was on the TV I said contently to Darren 'I love you', he replied 'I love you too'.
"Jokingly I said 'Yeah yeah, I love you more!', he arose from his seat and said 'Nope, I definitely love you more.' He then took a box from the coat cupboard and immediately I froze. He got down on one knee and completely forgot the speech he had prepared!
"Our big day was full of so many memorable moments. As a surprise on the day, my sister, who is a ballet dancer, had choreographed a dance with my mum to All the Time in the World. It was absolutely gorgeous. Also our best friend, who organised the fireworks in the evening, added in twice the amount of fireworks we had expected. It was an amazing day, I never dreamed it would be so good."

Angela Pedone and Andrew Gould married on 14th February, 2010, and held their reception at Reigate Hill Golf Club. Their theme was black ostrich feathers, with mulled wine-coloured accessories and red roses.

Angela says: "Andrew proposed while we were having our Saturday morning snuggle over a cup of tea. We actually married on Jamesby Island in Tobago Cays in the Grenadines, but then had a blessing at St Peter and St Paul's Church in Nutfield two weeks later. Because it was a split ceremony there were so many different elements. My favourite moment was seeing Andrew waiting nervously for me at the end of the altar - my heart melted all over again. His speech at our reception was so lovely, he managed to mention everyone.
"My dad lives in Malta, so he attended our wedding in the Grenadines, but he wasn't supposed to be coming to our blessing in Surrey. When we got back from our honeymoon he told us he was coming to Surrey after all - it was a very last-minute decision as he decided he couldn't miss it. It just made the whole day complete."
